Abstract:
What is the Life Sciences Network?
The Life Sciences Network is a new research-intensive resource at Ohio State.
• The mission of the LSN is to bolster the impact and visibility of Ohio State’s strong tradition of excellence in life sciences research and graduate studies.
• The LSN leverages institutional resources in collaboration with the life sciences colleges to support faculty and researchers generate new interdisciplinary research teams and submit extramural grant proposals.
What can you expect from the LSN in 2012?
The launch of the LSN infrastructure is being lead by Executive Director Professor Kathleen Boris-Lawrie, Dean of the Graduate School Patrick Osmer, and Vice President for Research Caroline Whitacre, in collaboration with the Program Council of Deans.
• The comprehensive web portal to life sciences graduate education and research at the university. The LSN web portal ( http://lsn.osu.edu/ ) provides the public and all life sciences faculty and student researchers the first comprehensive gateway to the full scope of programs and opportunities at Ohio State.
• The compendium of all life sciences research centers, departments, graduate programs, research-training grants, and grass-roots working groups supports prospective graduate students, staff and faculty to navigate and connect with members of the community.
• The first comprehensive calendar of all life sciences events and seminars informs researchers and students across disciplines and academic units, ultimately promoting new interdisciplinary collaborations.
• The advancement of information technology to embellish supportive infrastructure for interdisciplinary research teams to develop the next-generation of graduate training programs and extramural interdisciplinary grant proposals.
